Boys & Girls Clubs of Stoneham & Wakefield Collaborates with Eliot Community Human Services for Enhanced Mental Health Support

New pilot program places trained clinicians on-site as part the Clubs’ dedication to the new Here & Now initiative

Just a few months after launching the new “Here & Now” mental health initiative, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Stoneham & Wakefield are proud to announce an innovative addition to their offerings – a collaboration with Eliot Community Human Services.  Under the new partnership, master-level clinicians will be placed on-site at the Clubs to provide elevated support and invaluable mental health resources within the middle and high school aged programs, including crucial therapeutic services for members and families, social and emotional learning activities in the after school and summer camp programs, Trauma Informed Care training for all Club staff, and more.

This latest partnership highlights the shared mission of both organizations to provide safe and supportive spaces for those in the community that need it the most. “We are excited to partner with the Boys & Girls Clubs to increase access to mental health services for youth by bringing services directly to youth and families in community settings,” said Aaron Katz, Senior Vice President for Eliot.   “We are in awe of the Boys & Girls Clubs’ leadership for having the vision to embed such needed services in their programming.”

The Eliot Community Human Services collaboration is one of many important initiatives of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Stoneham & Wakefield’s “Here & Now” program, which also includes mental and behavioral health programming, free childcare for families battling cancer, Youth Mental Health First Aid certification classes, the INTERFACE dedicated outpatient mental health referral hotline, and more. “This type of programming is imperative to the mental, physical, and emotional well-being of our members and their families,” says John Brinkman, COO, “and we are proud to provide these very necessary services in our Clubs and to our communities.”

The Boys & Girls Clubs Here & Now initiative is part of the Clubs’ dedication to making a lasting impact on the lives of local youth that will help build great futures for individuals and families alike. To learn more about Here & Now, visit bgcstoneham.com or bgcwakefield.org.
